Nigerians react to sack of Babachir Lawal On Social Media's

Babachir Lawal, President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday sacked the Secretary to Government of the Federation , Babachir Lawal who has been on suspension since over the contract scandal. He was replaced with Boss Gida Mustapha. Shortly after the news hit the social media, Nigerians began airing their opinion about the replacement. Many applaud the move , but they believe it came too late . Some think the case should not be allowed to die down yet , calling for the prosecution of the former SGF . There are other opinions too . In Borno Bomb blast reportedly kills 14

Reports say the bomb blast occurred near a security checkpoint. A bomb blast has occurred in Muna, Maiduguri in Borno state. According to Sun News, the explosion went off near a security checkpoint. Reports also say that 14 people were killed on the spot.

DSS must release me before I can testify for Metuh – Dasuki

Sambo Dasuki he detained former National Security Adviser , Sambo Dasuki , has asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to set aside the subpoena served on him to testify in defence of a former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party , Chief Olisa Metuh . Dasuki ’ s lawyer, Mr. Ahmed Raji (SAN), informed Justice Okon Abang on Monday that his client had filed an application to that effect on October 20 and that same had been served on all the parties to the case. While introducing the application on Monday , Raji said Dasuki had asked as an alternative prayer in the application, an order of stay of execution of the subpoena served on the detainee pending his (Dasuki ’ s ) release from the custody of the Department of State Service . The DSS had detained Dasuki since December 2015 after the ex - NSA was granted bail in respect of two separate sets of charges instituted against him before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory . Human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), has said the late Afrobeat maestro , Fela Anikulapo, remains his most interesting client . He recalled that Fela used to walk up to him to inform him ahead of his plans to violate the law, telling him to get ready to defend him in court. According to Falana , Fela had a penchant for breaking the law, but he got away with a lot of violations because he always prepared his defence ahead . A video clip circulating on the Facebook captured Falana as saying this during a lecture organised as part of the activities marking this year ’ s Felabration and Fela ’ s 79th birthday , which was marked post- humously . The Alaafin of Oyo , Oba Lamidi Adeyemi , on Sunday declared the National Coordinator of the Oodua People ’ s Congress , Gani Adams , as the 15th Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland . The position was held last by the late MKO Abiola , who died in the detention camp of the late military dictator, Gen . Sani Abacha , in 1998 for refusing to trade his presidential mandate for freedom. In June this year , there was an indication that Adams could be named the new Generalismo of Yorubaland by the monarch but the OPC leader refused to confirm nor deny the rumour . Over 200 UNILAG Law Students streaked From Writing Examination Over Class Attendance

Over two hundred Students of University of Lagos who are law students have been streaked from writing the ongoing semester examination for allegedly failing to meet up to the School Attendance, 65% of their course attendance. Some of the affected students complained that the rule came up without prior notice, adding that the University’s enforcement of the rule was to reduce the number of students who get to the final year, and subsequently get admitted to the Nigerian Law School. He opined that many students prefer to stay in their hostels to study as the capacity of their lecture hall cannot accommodate students if they all decided to be in class. A 400 level student said the faculty of law annex which has bigger capacity lecture halls does not have a public address system to amplify the voices of their lecturers when they teach. _Ex-First Lady, Patience Jonathan__ The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has traced N 2 . 114 bn to the bank account of Magel Resort Limited , which was allegedly owned by Mrs . Patience Jonathan and her late mother , Mama Charity Oba. According to the EFCC, the total amount of money traced to Mrs . Jonathan is now N 17bn . Patience , the wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan , had, last week , filed a N 2 bn fundamental human rights suit against the EFCC, accusing the anti - graft agency of subjecting her to psychological trauma , unnecessary persecution and going as far as freezing her late mother’ s accounts. Zambian Player , Augustine Mulenga was seen yesterday, weeping bitterly at the burial of his daughter, who died, while he was playing for his country in Uyo , Akwa Ibom, Nigeria On Saturday evening. The player broke down in tears at the burial of his little girl.
