President M. Buhari T he governors were Rochas Okorocha ( Imo State ); Alhaji Kashim Shettima ( Borno State ); Tanko Al -Makura ( Nasarawa State ); Ibikunle Amosun ( Ogun State ); Abiola Ajimobi ( Oyo State ); Ibrahim Giadam ( Yobe State ); and Abdulaziz Yari ( Zamfara State ) . Former Osun State Governor , Rauf Aregbesola, was also honoured. The honour was in recognition of their leadership qualities and service to the APC since it was formed in 2014 . The President was honoured for his outstanding qualities in leadership , according to the organisers . They said Buhari excelled by granting bailouts to states to pay inherited salaries , helping states to renegotiate loan repayments and the release of the Paris club refund . Speaking at the event at the Presidential Villa , Abuja , Buhari said he was taken by a surprise , but admitted he had been encouraged to do more . He called on the 36 states to work together to sustain the unity of Nigeria .

The Youth Wing of the Redeemed Christian Church of God will organise a 76-hour praise to God in 16 countries to celebrate the 76th birthday anniversary of the church’s General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye. Mr Precious Akingbade, the RCCG National Young Adults and Youth Pastor, announced this at a news conference in Lagos. He said that the Marathon Messiah Praise would take place in Nigeria at the Youth Center, Redemption Camp, Km 46, Lagos/Ibadan Expressway. Eniola Akinkuotu and Olaleye Aluko The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board said on Sunday that it had suspended its employee , Philomina Chieshe, on account of N 36m which was reported to have been swallowed by a snake in the board ’ s office in Makurdi , Benue State . The JAMB Head of Information , Fabian Benjamin, told our correspondent on Sunday that the board was taking her through other disciplinary measures while security agencies were investigating the matter . Benjamin said , “ She has been suspended and she is going through all other disciplinary procedures while investigation is ongoing on the matter . Her claim was that a snake came into the office and swallowed the N 36m proceeds. ” It was learnt that Chieshe explained in her statement that a “ mystery snake” sneaked into JAMB accounts office and made away with the N 36m cash . Unfortunately , I am saddened to acknowledge that for many this Christmas and New Year holidays have been anything but merry and happy. Instead of showing love, companionship and charity , some of our compatriots chose this period to inflict severe hardship on us all by creating unnecessary fuel scarcity across the country. The consequence was that not many could travel and the few who did had to pay exorbitant transport fares. This is unacceptable given that NNPC had taken measures to ensure availability at all depots.
