Authorities of Lagos State University have warned students who have been dismissed from the institution to stay off the university campuses. The school management in a statement on its website said the dismissed students should not visit the university campuses without invitation or clearance. The statement reads: The University Management has been inundated with information of the presence of some expelled students on the Main Campus of the University. In view of this development, the Management hereby calls on such students visiting the Campus and other Campuses of the University without invitation/clearance to henceforth, stay off the University Campuses. It would be recalled that the expulsion letters given to the expelled students stated clearly the appropriate sanctions for their various offences. They are to maintain the status quo. The Governing Council of the University of Ilorin has approved the appointment of Dr Folaranmi Olowoleni as the new registrar of the institution . The Deputy Director, Corporate Affairs of the university, Mr Kunle Akogun , said this in a statement issued in Ilorin on Sunday. Akogun said that Olowoleni , who is currently a Deputy Registrar , will take over from the outgoing Registrar , Mr Emmanuel Obafemi , whose five -year tenure expires on April 28. The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, says Nigerian universities can be the best in Africa, if they can enjoy a stable academic calendar. Ogundipe made the observation in an interview on Thursday in Lagos. The vice-chancellor was reacting to incessant strikes by labour unions in the Nigerian university system. According to him, there is the need for education stakeholders to effectively manage issues that result in strikes. “Universities especially the first generation ones in the country can be ranked best in Africa, if we can continue with a stable academic calendar. She was believed to have been very restless at an event, before jumping to her death A 100 Level female Law student of the University of Ibadan, Imarbong Effiong, has been confirmed dead. The death is being ruled as a suicide. A statement by the university on Wednesday said Effiong died on Monday during a show at her hall of residence.
