The Progressive Governors ’ Forum on Friday honoured President Muhammadu Buhari and seven All Progressives Congress governors .

The governors were Rochas Okorocha ( Imo State ); Alhaji Kashim Shettima ( Borno State ); Tanko Al -Makura ( Nasarawa State ); Ibikunle Amosun ( Ogun State ); Abiola Ajimobi ( Oyo State ); Ibrahim Giadam ( Yobe State ); and Abdulaziz Yari ( Zamfara State ) .

Former Osun State Governor , Rauf Aregbesola, was also honoured.

The honour was in recognition of their leadership qualities and service to the APC since it was formed in 2014 .

The President was honoured for his outstanding qualities in leadership , according to the organisers .

They said Buhari excelled by granting bailouts to states to pay inherited salaries , helping states to renegotiate loan repayments and the release of the Paris club refund .

Speaking at the event at the Presidential Villa , Abuja , Buhari said he was taken by a surprise , but admitted he had been encouraged to do more .

He called on the 36 states to work together to sustain the unity of Nigeria .

Former Arsenal Player Jailed For Selling Heroin And Cocaine

Compiled by Ayomide °An ex-Arsenal youth player, Christian Toonga, has been reportedly jailed for two and a half years for selling heroin and cocaine for a gang of dealers. The 19 year old midfielder was forced to work for the Custom House gang when he was arrested at a property in Sherborne, Wiltshire, last year. reports made us to undersand that, he helped the gang to move into the home of a woman who felt powerless to resist them. The police raided the property and he was found with three wraps of cocaine, 29 wraps of heroin, £700 and mobile phones with text messages. Toonga admitted to possessing with intent to supply class A drugs on 7 February, and he was also charged with failing to surrender to police after he was bailed.

INEC refutes negative insinuations on suspension of senator’s recall process

° Acting Chairman said relating INEC’s decision to the Senate’s intention to probe TETFUND was false and misleading. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has refuted negative insinuations trailing its decision to suspend the recall process of Sen. Dino Melaye, representing Kogi West, in compliance with a court order. Prof. Okechukwu Ibeanu, National Commissioner and acting Chairman of INEC said in a statement he issued on Saturday in Abuja that the attention of the commission had been drawn to some media reports about its decision to obey the court order. He said some of the reports were claiming that INEC was being blackmailed into abandoning the process as a result of the decision of Senate to probe the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TEFUND).
