A Man identified as Columbus Chijoko, after being granted a protection order against his wife whom he accused of taking his underwear to prophets and threatening to poison him . He told Civil Court magistrate Lazini Ncube last week that he was now even scared to eat at home because of the threats by his wife , Alice Takawira . Chijoko said his wife was also in the habit of harassing him at his workplace and assaulting him in front of their children . However, Alice Takawira told a different story to the court , she claimed her husband applied for the protection order to stop her from questioning him about an alleged extra -marital affair . The Governing Council of the University of Ilorin has approved the appointment of Dr Folaranmi Olowoleni as the new registrar of the institution . The Deputy Director, Corporate Affairs of the university, Mr Kunle Akogun , said this in a statement issued in Ilorin on Sunday. Akogun said that Olowoleni , who is currently a Deputy Registrar , will take over from the outgoing Registrar , Mr Emmanuel Obafemi , whose five -year tenure expires on April 28. He said that the registrar -designate, who joined the service of the University of Ilorin on Jan . 20, 1992, was a 1982 graduate of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria . President Muhammadu Buhari I join my fellow citizens this morning to welcome and celebrate the New Year 2018 . This year promises to be pivotal in our quest for CHANGE. Unfortunately , I am saddened to acknowledge that for many this Christmas and New Year holidays have been anything but merry and happy. Instead of showing love, companionship and charity , some of our compatriots chose this period to inflict severe hardship on us all by creating unnecessary fuel scarcity across the country. The consequence was that not many could travel and the few who did had to pay exorbitant transport fares. This is unacceptable given that NNPC had taken measures to ensure availability at all depots. I am determined to get to the root of this collective blackmail of all Nigerians and ensure that whichever groups are behind this manipulated hardship will be prevented from doing so again .
