CAF: Let Pinnick’s election bring unity in our football- Galadima

Former Chairman of the Nigeria Football Association, NFA, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima has said that he is more worried by the division the recent CAF election has brought into the country’s football than the outcome of the process.  Speaking on telephone to Sports Vanguard from his base in Kano, the Executive Chairman of the Kano State Sports Council said that the campaigns leading to the CAF election generated so much bitterness and brought division among football stakeholders in the country which he described as not too healthy for the football. “`If Amaju’s victory in the CAF election and his tenure will bring unity in our football, it will be a good thing. I am worried about the division the campaign for the CAF election brought among football stakeholders. Now that the elections are over, I hope they will come together to move the game forward, not only in Nigeria but in Africa as a whole. The world of change has caught up with (Issa) Hayatou, which was long overdue anyway.  Hayatou has played  his  own part over the years and age was not particularly on his side. Nigeria expects to benefit from the change as well as Amaju’s election. We want a better CAF which must play a major role in global football. CAF should do more to project the image of its Champions League as it is with the European version,” Alhaji Galadima stressed.
