 Spanish film star Antonio Banderas says he has recovered from a heart attack that he had in January. The 56-year-old Banderas tells Spanish media that “I suffered a heart attack on Jan. 26, but it wasn’t serious and hasn’t caused any damage.” Antonio Banderas Banderas says he underwent a procedure to introduce three stents in his arteries, adding that “it hasn’t been as dramatic as some have written.” Banderas’ visit to a Swiss clinic had led to speculation about the health of the star known for roles in such films as “The Mask of Zorro,” ”Desperado,” ”Philadelphia” and the animated “Puss in Boots.” He was also played the leading role in the film “The Original Sin”. Banderas spoke Saturday at a film festival in his hometown of Malaga in southern Spain, where he received a lifetime achievement award for his career as an actor, director and producer.

Compiled by Ayomide °An ex-Arsenal youth player, Christian Toonga, has been reportedly jailed for two and a half years for selling heroin and cocaine for a gang of dealers. The 19 year old midfielder was forced to work for the Custom House gang when he was arrested at a property in Sherborne, Wiltshire, last year. reports made us to undersand that, he helped the gang to move into the home of a woman who felt powerless to resist them. The police raided the property and he was found with three wraps of cocaine, 29 wraps of heroin, £700 and mobile phones with text messages. Toonga admitted to possessing with intent to supply class A drugs on 7 February, and he was also charged with failing to surrender to police after he was bailed.

INEC refutes negative insinuations on suspension of senator’s recall process

° Acting Chairman said relating INEC’s decision to the Senate’s intention to probe TETFUND was false and misleading. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has refuted negative insinuations trailing its decision to suspend the recall process of Sen. Dino Melaye, representing Kogi West, in compliance with a court order. Prof. Okechukwu Ibeanu, National Commissioner and acting Chairman of INEC said in a statement he issued on Saturday in Abuja that the attention of the commission had been drawn to some media reports about its decision to obey the court order. He said some of the reports were claiming that INEC was being blackmailed into abandoning the process as a result of the decision of Senate to probe the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TEFUND).
