The Confederation of African Football’s (Caf) secretary general Hicham El Amrani resigned on Sunday, just over a week after long-standing president Issa Hayatou was ousted from power following defeat to Madagascar’s Ahmad in the elections. El Amrani, in a letter to African football associations, said he would be departing on Monday, but gave no reason for his decision. Hicham El Amrani The 37-year-old Moroccan had served as secretary general for the last six years. Hayatou was deposed as Caf president 10 days ago at elections in Ethiopia, where six of his allies on the body’s executive committee also lost their positions. The 70-year-old Hayatou had served as president for 29 years. Caf’s new president, Ahmad, chaired a meeting with his staff at the African football body’s headquarters in Cairo later on Sunday. During the meeting, the new president announced he had accepted the resignation of El Amrani.

The 19 year old midfielder was forced to work for the Custom House gang when he was arrested at a property in Sherborne, Wiltshire, last year. reports made us to undersand that, he helped the gang to move into the home of a woman who felt powerless to resist them. The police raided the property and he was found with three wraps of cocaine, 29 wraps of heroin, £700 and mobile phones with text messages. Toonga admitted to possessing with intent to supply class A drugs on 7 February, and he was also charged with failing to surrender to police after he was bailed.

INEC refutes negative insinuations on suspension of senator’s recall process

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has refuted negative insinuations trailing its decision to suspend the recall process of Sen. Dino Melaye, representing Kogi West, in compliance with a court order. Prof. Okechukwu Ibeanu, National Commissioner and acting Chairman of INEC said in a statement he issued on Saturday in Abuja that the attention of the commission had been drawn to some media reports about its decision to obey the court order. He said some of the reports were claiming that INEC was being blackmailed into abandoning the process as a result of the decision of Senate to probe the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TEFUND).
