AYO FAYOSE: THE TANGLE, THE STRUGGLE, AND THE BETRAYAL. by Don Manuel

Ever since the entry of fayose of into the political limelight it has all been full of hustles and hurdles as it has been from one scandal to the other, of which the recent one is the globally known EKITIGATE which was alleged that the former Goodluck Jonathan presidency funded his election out of the money meant for purchasing of arms for use in the north east against the book haram insurgency which was ravaging the region.
It was alleged that fayose received a sum of N2.3 billion from the ONSA which was allegedly processed by the former minister for defense Dr Musiliu obanikoro under goodluck administration and also got the money delivered to him in cash with an embattled former secretary of the people’s Democratic Party PDP Dr Temitope Aluko making stunning revelations about how the 2015 election in Ekiti State (which was reportedly adjudged free and fair by both local and international observers)was not only funded but rigged with the use of the military, thugs dressed in military uniforms, and sponsoring of INEC officials to make the election come out in fayose’s favor as he (Fayose) was the people’s democratic party (PDP) candidate then.
Thereafter Mr. Fayose came out to deny the claim saying that Aluko was saying all he was saying as a result of frustration which emanated from his refusal to give him the position of the chief of staff which he requested for, he also said that obanikoro has not made the claim open that he gave him the said amount, thereby all that was said by  Aluko And EFCC Was A Ploy To Bring Him Down At All Cost. Aluko fired back promptly by saying it was all true that he and fayose had made a deal that after the election he will become the chief of staff and one other PDP chieftain Femi Bamisile will be the secretary to the state government SSG; A deal fayose later defied.
He continued by stating that he is saying all he is saying in the interest of ekiti people and Nigerians in general.
The EKITIGATE issue was almost going into relegation when the arrival of obanikoro who was in the USA for his doctorate degree programme  into Nigeria from the USA bounced it back after he honored the invitation of the EFCC to come and His own role in the DASUKI/EKITIGATE.
Obanikoro, during the course of interrogation by the EFCC confessed to giving fayose $5.37m cash for Ekiti poll, he said he handed fayose $5,377,000 in cash and another 1.3 billion which was received by fayose’s associate.
He also said the money was sourced from the $2.1billion meant for arms purchase at the ONSA thereby lying to rest the claim by fayose that it was a lie since obanikoro has not spoken.
Some political analysts believe that this revelation by obanikoro might not be unconnected with a rift that occurred between fayose and obanikoro over the disappearance of some cash when it was flown to akure. Fayose in his usual manner of forming the “THE OPPOSITION LEADER” was quick to respond that obanikoro return to the country was arranged all in the attempt to nail him at all cost. He failed to deny the claims by the ex minister but rather he started blaming the federal government and the APC for his travails.
Now it is evident that all the characters in this case have one or more questions to answer as all of them have done all what they did as a result of betrayal or mistrust.
Will Aluko have revealed all those facts if he hadn’t been removed as the secretary of PDP in the state and if he had not been sidelined by fayose in the selection of the chief of staff?
It is the bitter truth that he would have kept this high profile corruption case to himself had he been satisfied by fayose and the PDP which would have kept a better part of the people in darkness over what transpired during the 2015 ekiti state governorship election. It would also have made fayose an unwarranted saint.
Also obanikoro, after taking what seems like years to honor EFCC invitation would have denied but realizing the circumstances involved and maybe personal issues he had with the governor decided it was best for him to make the clarifications.
Fayose who is now realizing that it is almost game up for him is now finding ways to cover his tracks by opposing the federal government at every slightest opportunity so as to divert the attention of the public away from his case and also make it seem to the public by the time they are prosecuting him as persecuting him because of his opposition to the federal government.
It will be of greater value if our politicians don’t wait till they are betrayed or cheated before they reveal corruption cases as this will help save our country from the hands of the few who have decided to live off the wealth meant for everybody.
Anti corruption agencies should also treat all cases involving members of the opposition with utmost professionalism so as not to make it seem as if they are been sponsored by some individuals to witch-hunt or silence them….
